“Thailand Digital Arts Festival 2022” the First Digital Art Showcase in Thailand and Asia 5-20 March 2022 at ICONSIAM

Experience the first ever digital art extravaganza in Thailand and Asia at “Thailand Digital Arts Festival 2022” (TDAF 2022). This world-class event, empowering  the power of creativity, is co-hosted by Siam Piwat Co., Ltd.; ICONSIAM Co., Ltd.; Baandam Museum by the late national artist Thawan Duchanee; KASIKORN X, creator of Coral platform, a marketplace for Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) that offers opportunities in creating disruptive businesses and boundless opportunities for artists and collectors alike; Plan B Media Public Company Limited  as a media partner to showcase digital arts on Plan B’s digital screens countrywide. This digital showcase will take place from 5-20 March 2022 at ICONSIAM.

The world’s first digital art showcase connects two parallel universes – the physical world and the digital world — by presenting physical artworks by leading Thai artists categorized by disciplines, techniques and their signature styles. Importantly, the work of art is showcases as NFTs or Non-Fungible Tokens, a form of a one-and-only digital asset that is non-interchangeable. NFTs have been increasing in popularity worldwide. At TDAF2022, art enthusiasts are able to admire the work of their favorite artists through both physical and digital formats and connect with the creative processes and techniques of over 140 artists who have submitted a total of over 1,400 pieces of art creations. The art pieces are available to collect as NFTs which the aesthetic and values can increase over time. It is, therefore, the biggest digital art exhibition, with the greatest number of top-ranking Thai artists participating.

The event showcases artworks from the various groups of artists–National Artists and acclaimed artists such as Dr. Thawan Duchanee, Pratuang Emcharoen, Prof Emeritus Prayad Pongdam, Prof Emeritus Preecha Thaothong, Tawee Ratchaneekorn, Inson Wongsam, Chuang Moolpinit, Prof. Vichoke Mukdamanee, Kamol Tassananchalee, Panya Vijinthanasarn, Thongchai Rakpathum, Woranan Chachawalthipakorn; renowned artists and up-and-coming artists such as Prof. Thavorn Ko-Udomvit, Thongchai Srisukprasert, Sakwut Wisesmanee, Jitsing Somboon, Chalit Nakpawan, Pornchai Chaima, Prasong Luemuang, Chatchawan Rodklongton, Alongkorn Lowattana, Lamphu Kansanoh, Wanda Chaima, Aof Smith, Chalermpol Janrayab, Aphisit Muennak, Veerachai Duangpla, Jeerawut Boonchauynampon; as well as celebrities and influencers such as Jirayu Tantrakul, Arigantha Mahapreukpong (Gypso), Pimdao Panichsamai (Mudmee), Thanachai Ujjin (Pod Moderndog), Methi Noichinda, and Kittipong Khamsat (Go-M Buddha Bless).

Itthiphol Kunplome, Minister of Culture, addressed at the opening ceremony, “TDAF2022 constitutes an important milestone in Thai art circle, successfully connects art into the digital world for the first time, not only in Thailand but also in Asia. This effort provides a great new opportunity and a new art showcase platform, building on the wealth of Thailand’s cultural assets to create a digital economy. It brings Thai talents to the world. The Thai cultural heritage and creative power from the hands of Thai artists will then be elevated and developed to be able to compete with pride on an international level. This new route is indeed very challenging, and today’s event is the proof of the dedication and determination of the organizers.

“This connection to the digital art world holds no boundary. Not only the world will recognize Thai artists but will experience Thainess and Thailand. This will undoubtedly benefit Thai people and the country in various other aspects in the future. Thai artists from different generations in different fields are expressing and passing on their inspiration.  

Some of them have already stepped into the digital universe, while others are only just embarking on this journey. Most importantly, every artist is ready to grow consistently, fueled by the fire of creativity, to learn and adapt, and to move forward in this digital world. They will continue to inspire the younger generations  and being their role models, not only in the art circle, but in other aspects as well.”

The exhibition will also feature activities every weekend from the artists and NFT creators who will share their experiences in the world of NFTs on this new form of art on Saturday-Sunday, 12-13 March and 19-20 March 2022.

The Thailand Digital Arts Festival 2022 (TDAF2022) strictly implements Covid-19 prevention measures to ensure safety for those wishing to visit the exhibition. All visitors will be required to have a temperature check, and the venue will be disinfected according to safety standards each evening after the door closes.
