True Corporation in collaboration with five partners has launched the Young Safe Internet Leaders Cyber Camp (YSLC) Year 5.
It is now calling on senior secondary students to jump on its bandwagon to boost immunity against and end cyberthreats by designing public services to #BraveAgainstOnlineChildSexualExploitation. The five partners include UNICEF, Architecture faculty at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ), Internet Foundation for the Development of Thailand and Thailand Internet Crimes Against Children (TICAC).

“Hackathon” for Public Services
YSLC is being held for the fifth time this year. It marks the first time the cyber camp is held as a hybrid event. Its hackathon challenges participating teams to present ideas and develop innovations within a specified timeframe. This year, YSLC has taken the theme of Online Child Sexual Exploitation with the aims to promote youth’s awareness of and immunity against cyberthreats, as well as to train participants in designing public services to #BraveAgainstOnlineChildSexualExploitation.
This activity is considered the first public service design hackathon event in Thailand. Integrating Service Design to Hackathon, it seeks to create public services that respond better to the needs of young victims from the stages of complaint filing and investigation to the prevention of pornography reproduction during ongoing justice process.
YSLC hybrid camp is the strategic activity that integrates the strength of both dtac and True, continuing the digital inclusion mission in a bid to bridging education gap and digital divide. By 2030, the firm aims to provide digital upskilling and lifelong learning opportunities via its educational initiatives, such as Safe Internet, True Plook Panya, CONNEXT ED, True Little Monk, and dtac Net for Living to more than 37 million people in Thailand.

The participants in YSLC hybrid camp will gain more knowledge about the current state and challenges of online child sexual exploitation from those practitioners working in the government agencies, private and civil society organizations. The hackathon enables the participants to learn and experiment public service design, allowing them to devise solutions to address the problems by themselves.
This hackathon will be held in three phases namely:
- Hack#1: Upskill to Understand Cyberthreats – In this phase, participants will learn about terms and stages of the online sexual exploitation of children. They will also be given tools to design public services based on the theme “If clips are leaked, how to help young victims?”
- Hack#2: In-Depth into Unexpected Threats of Online Child Sexual Exploitation– YSLC will offer spaces for participants to familiarize themselves with what online sexual exploitation is and opportunities for them to design public services that can end the problem. In this phase, participants will also meet and make new friends. After completing camp activities in this phrase, they will be conferred certificates.
- Hack#3: Final Round Presents Must-Try Experience to Senior Secondary Students! During this on-site session of the hackathon, finalists get counseling from experts in various fields. Their problem-solving, design and presentation skills thus will get an upgrade. All of them can apply to real-life situations too.
The hackathon will give Bt30,000 cash prize to its top winner, Bt20,000 cash prize to its first runner-up, and Bt10,000 to its second runner-up.
