depa joins hands with Foodordery to launch a Thai food/product delivery platform called eatsHUB, a new alternative for food merchants that will help them adjust their business practices to survive the COVID-19 crisis. With its strength of low GP charge at only 8%, this Thai platform for Thai people is expected to generate working capital of at least 5,000 million baht per year.
Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, President/CEO of Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) said that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused people to change their consumption behavior. Therefore, it is essential for entrepreneurs to adjust their business practices accordingly. One of depa’s missions is to help micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) get through the pandemic and deal with the new normal in an efficient way. Thus, depa has recently collaborated with Foodordery Co., Ltd. to create a national delivery program under the infrastructure development measure for the public and private sectors.
“This program aims to develop eatsHUB, a Thai food/product delivery platform for Thai people, by encouraging food merchants, including well-known restaurants, medium-sized food shops, and small food stalls, to access and apply digital technology in their businesses in order to increase management efficiency, create databases, and expand their customer base. Its strength is a low Gross Profit (GP) charge of only 8%, which is lower than the average 30% charge of most other platforms. It also provides food merchants with various promotion and sales channels such as mobile, application, call center, website, POS, and Cloud Kitchen. In addition, it will help to create jobs for the unemployed during the economic crisis, with the goal of generating at least 5,000 million baht per year in the food industry economy,” said depa’s President/CEO.
depa and Foodordery have been promoting eatsHUb in 6 provinces so far. In the initial phase, it aims to serve people in the pilot areas of Bangkok and its vicinities as well as 17 major provinces, comprising Chiang Mai, Nakhon Sawan, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phetchaburi, Surat Thani, Phuket, Songkhla, Chonburi, Chanthaburi, Rayong, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Nakhon Phanom, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. The primary target is to have at least 20,000 food merchants join the program and create jobs for more than 2,000 delivery riders.
