DELTA ELECTRONICS prepares for ‘a better tomorrow’

Power-supply company keen to diversify into new consumer areas

After being involved in the power-supply industry for nearly half a century, Delta Electronics is currently being buffeted by huge changes and challenges. Chief among them are the distortions brought to normal existence by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the company is maintaining its core business, with a vow to provide the best innovative energy-efficient solutions for a ‘better tomorrow’.

The President of Delta Electronics (Thailand), Jackie Chang, told The Story Thailand that there were four current ‘megatrends’ that were bringing great complexity to markets. They were urbanization, climate change, industrial automation, and digitalization.

All of these megatrends have both direct and indirect impacts on the future shape of business and manufacturing, as more and more countries search for supplies while developing individual frameworks to digitalize their businesses and look for anything related to data management, data storage and data transmission.

Focus on the power industry, but constantly looking for new probabilities

Delta Electronics’ core business covers all aspects of the power industry, from power electronics to power generation, including renewable energy such as solar or wind power, and power conversion, management and storage.

“Delta Electronics’ strategy has been clear from our beginning in 1971: to provide innovative, clean energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow. This is our corporate mission and we haven’t changed any of that,” Chang said.

However, Delta has become engaged in different areas that are expected to become ‘more solution oriented’ and aims to meet society’s needs in market areas that the company has hitherto not exploited.

The company is now involved in three business categories. The major one is power electronics, the second is automation, covering both industrial and building automation, and the third is information and communications technology infrastructure.

Meanwhile, it sees dramatic changes in consumers’ behavior due to major disruptions of the business and lifestyle environment, and it believes there will be many opportunities to groom new business segments to serve customers’ needs and satisfaction.

Delta expects that people will pursue more online activities and engagement as they become accustomed to using technologies and innovations to add convenience to their daily lives.

It believes that the top products they seek will include medical equipment, air purifiers, 5G devices, electric cars and data solutions.

“Delta has actually been engaged in different areas for some years. Originally, we were mainly involved in the design and manufacturing of power-related products, but we have been trying to make ourselves conversant with more solution-oriented possibilities, and to offer consumer needs in new market areas,” Chang said.

People are the best asset; Partners the best strength

While diversifying its business into a variety of areas with potential, Delta said that its people remained its key success factor.

“Our people are our best asset,” Chang said. “We must make sure that they feel comfortable and are working in a safe environment.”

Another key to success is the company’s many stakeholders, including those from both government and private sectors, institutions and public organizations. With the support and cooperation of these and various international partners, Delta expects to smoothly improve and develop its business.

“When we look after your people properly, we can fulfill supply-chain needs, and then we must do our best to ensure customer satisfaction,” he said.

Keep moving on for a better tomorrow

While the global economy recovers from the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, Delta expects there to be constant change in areas like digital technologies and climate consciousness. The company is eager to properly link people with these changes.

Chang said Delta Electronics would keep moving on, adjusting to greater power efficiency, working with partners to develop smart products and designing and connecting the best solutions to help sustain the global environment.

“Things are quite promising, and I am happy to see them happening. Even when we still have concerns about COVID-19 and see second waves of infection in some countries, I still believe that technology will bring us a much better life. And Delta, with all of its different partners, can address all these changes and create solutions for a better life tomorrow,” he said.
