AIS wins international acclaim with Sustainability Award Silver Class 2022 for second year.

AIS has received the S&P Global Sustainability Award for 2022 in the Silver Class for the second consecutive year, the result of rigorous international sustainability evaluation by S&P Global. At the same time, the company has been ranked in the global sustainability indices of the DJSI World and Emerging Markets Indices for the third year running which reflecting its mission to operate its business sustainably under the principles of good governance, to create a resilient telecom network and power Thailand with the digital economy.

Somchai Lertsutiwong, CEO of Advanced Info Services plc. (AIS) commented, “AIS is committed to sustainability and creating shared value for society and the environment. We are dedicated to innovate and build quality into our products and services, so that Thai people can enjoy an improved quality of life. They can use technology creatively and securely through our core AIS Aunjai Cyber mission. This emphasizes communications and digital solutions for Thais to use the Internet securely.

“We also operate an environmental policy to use energy efficiently as well as use renewable energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Crucially, we collaborate with different sectors to raise awareness of recycling electronic waste in our program, ‘Thais Say no to E-Waste.’ As of today, we have collected 234,436 items of E-Waste for recycling to the correct standards.”

AIS’ mission to operate its business sustainably has attained sustainable assessment and ranking criteria at the national and international levels, as follows:

  • AIS has received the S&P Global Sustainability Award 2022 in the Silver Class for the second year consecutively (2021-2022). AIS made the Top 5 of telecom businesses in the world with 88 points. S&P Global is an international company conducting corporate research, evaluations and rankings in various dimensions.
  • AIS was selected a ranking member of World and Emerging Indices from S&P Dow Jones Indices for the third year in succession (2019-2021). Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) are stock indices of leading global companies which have undergone sustainability assessment using Economic, Social and Governance (ESG) indicators.
  • AIS has also been chosen to join the Thailand Sustainability Investment Index (THSI), sustainable stocks in publicly listed companies with over 50% of the points required in each area and which meet criteria set by the Stock Exchange. The sustainable stocks reflect business operations which take into consideration the Environment, Society and Governance.
  • AIS has also been admitted to membership of the FTSE4Good Index Series for the seventh consecutive year from FTSE Russell, an international body producing indices, and the ESG 100, an index prepared by FTSE which has become widely popular among investors worldwide.

“Being presented with the S&P Global Sustainability Award this year and being granted membership of both the DJSI World Index and DJSI Emerging Markets Index is a huge motivator for us to
enhance sustainability in our business, and among our stakeholders at every level. AIS will apply the S&P global evaluation criteria to our operational plans, to be in line with international standards and to level up sustainable growth in every aspect,” concluded Somchai.
