AIS Business and Huawei Cloud have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to accelerate Thailand’s industrial sector toward intelligent manufacturing using data and AI. The partnership combines AIS Business’s network infrastructure with Huawei Cloud’s cloud, AI, and global manufacturing technologies. Under the MOU, the companies will develop an end-to-end digital infrastructure linking machinery and production systems via 5G Private Networks, fiber, and cloud-based GPU computing for AI applications.
Phupa Akavipat, Chief Enterprise Business Officer of Advanced Info Service Plc (AIS), stated that manufacturing accounted for approximately 25% of Thailand’s GDP and 16% of total employment (over 6.2 million jobs) in 2024. He noted that transforming the sector requires a digital infrastructure that securely connects network, cloud, data, and AI systems to enhance competitiveness and support domestic and international investments.
Celine Chao, CEO of Huawei Cloud Thailand, stated that modern manufacturing relies on turning data into business outcomes accurately. Through AIS Business’s role as Strategic Local Reseller Partner, the collaboration combines Huawei Cloud’s technologies with local digital infrastructure to build an end-to-end operational foundation for smart production.
The collaboration supports six key AI-driven manufacturing applications:
- AI-powered Quality Inspection: Uses AI to inspect product quality to increase speed and accuracy while reducing human error.
- Predictive Maintenance: Analyzes machinery and sensor data on the cloud using AI to predict equipment issues and improve maintenance planning.
- Connected Robotics, AGVs, and AMRs: Uses 5G Private Networks to support seamless connectivity between robots and automated systems.
- Real-time Factory Monitoring: Connects production line data to the cloud for real-time operational monitoring and decision-making.
- Production Line Optimization: Applies data analytics and AI to evaluate performance, remove bottlenecks, reduce energy consumption, and optimize costs.
- Industrial Data Platform for AI Readiness: Integrates IT, OT, machinery, and IoT data into a single platform to support AI models, digital twins, and autonomous operations.
These six use cases allow manufacturers to address specific factory challenges before expanding across other production lines. AIS Business will manage the integrated ecosystem to reduce technological complexity for enterprises.
