AIS, MHESI, and Chulalongkorn University launch free AI literacy course

In a joint effort to build artificial intelligence (AI) literacy and cybersecurity awareness among the Thai public, telecommunications provider AIS has partnered with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and Chulalongkorn University to launch a free digital learning course.

The program, titled “Aunjai Cyber: AI Literacy,” focuses on AI fundamentals, everyday applications, and the ethical use of the technology. Certified by MHESI, the curriculum was developed by experts and faculty from Chulalongkorn University. According to the organizers, there are future plans to allow university students to convert the course’s learning hours into academic credits.

Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, noted that as digital technology rapidly evolves, the public must learn to engage with AI critically. He stated that the university’s involvement aims to ensure the curriculum is comprehensive, practically applicable, and accessible across different sectors of society to help strengthen the national workforce.

The initiative targets a broad demographic of learners. Dr. Punpermsak Aruni, Deputy Permanent Secretary of MHESI, indicated that the collaboration is designed to prepare over 1.8 million students nationwide for future technological shifts by emphasizing critical thinking alongside AI literacy. He framed the initiative as part of a broader effort to advance a lifelong learning ecosystem for digital citizens.

For AIS, the program represents a strategic shift from foundational digital literacy to specialized AI education. Saichon Submakudom, Chief Corporate Communication at AIS, stated that the new course builds on the company’s existing “Aunjai Cyber” initiative, which has recorded over 1.05 million learners since its launch in 2019. Submakudom noted that the objective is to equip users to utilize AI safely, creatively, and responsibly as a practical tool.
