Huawei Technologies (Thailand) has appointed “David Li” as the new Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Technologies Thailand. This announcement was made during the “HUAWEI Meet the Press 2023 – Episode 1” event.

For 2023, Huawei will prioritize driving advancements in 5G technology, bolstering cybersecurity measures across the digital industry, and nurturing ICT talent development. A central focus will be placed on empowering people and cultivating a robust ecosystem for developers, who are regarded as essential driving forces behind Thailand’s technological progress. Particular emphasis will be given to developers specializing in cloud computing and digital energy solutions.

The event also highlighted Huawei Thailand’s recent successes in collaboratively expanding 5G infrastructure, cloud capabilities, digital energy technologies, and other intelligent ecosystems nationwide. Efforts have been made to reinforce cybersecurity measures and elevate the potential of ICT professionals. David Li reaffirmed Huawei’s commitment to “Growing in Thailand, Contributing to Thailand,” underscoring the company’s dedication to the country’s technological advancement and economic growth.

David Li, CEO of Huawei Technologies (Thailand) outlined Huawei’s vision and strategic direction for business operations in Thailand for the year 2023. He stated, “Huawei will collaborate with partners to position Thailand as the digital hub of ASEAN and drive the intelligent industry sector forward.”

A key focus will be the development of telecommunications infrastructure to promote connectivity, which Li described as “a fundamental right of the Thai people and a catalyst for social development.” Huawei plans to leverage fiber-optic networks to interconnect all sectors seamlessly. Furthermore, the company aims to expand network coverage to remote areas, ensuring inclusive access to digital services throughout the nation.

Li emphasized Huawei’s commitment to jointly propelling Thailand’s digital transformation, harnessing intelligent technologies to spur economic growth and enhance the lives of Thai citizens. Huawei is dedicated to enhancing cybersecurity awareness by collaborating with regulatory bodies, various industries, and customers to share information and best practices related to 5G technology. The company is actively working to improve the efficiency of cybersecurity measures and data protection for Thailand’s ICT infrastructure, thereby building credibility for the nation’s cyber ecosystem. Additionally, Huawei is assisting businesses and startups in adopting cloud solutions that adhere to Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), with the goal of elevating the country’s ranking in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI).

The company has set an ambitious target to train up to 20,000 tech-savvy developers within three years through various initiatives aimed at driving digital transformation across industries. These initiatives include the Spark Ignite SME Business Incubation Project, the Social Digital Car project spanning 10 provinces to train 2,000 students, Talent Talk seminars, and the Seeds for the Future program, which provides training, scholarships, and competitions for youth.

Moreover, Huawei Thailand is focused on developing digital energy personnel and aims to become the market leader in this sector. The company plans to leverage its cutting-edge technology, solutions, and expertise to support Thailand’s transition towards a carbon-neutral economy, ultimately driving GDP growth.
