SCBX unveils 4 key strategic trends in AI Outlook Vol.2 2025

SCBX เปิด 4 เทรนด์สำคัญ แนะองค์กรไทยเลิกแข่งขนาด มุ่งสร้าง AI ที่ 'รับผิดชอบ'

SCBX, Thailand’s premier financial technology group, has released its second AI whitepaper of the year, “SCBX AI Outlook Vol.2 2025: Navigating AI Power, Responsibility and Reality.” The report serves as a strategic guide for enterprises, asserting that the future of AI hinges on trust, quality data, and responsibility, rather than sheer scale.

The release comes at a critical juncture where AI is transforming into a foundational economic infrastructure. The central theme explored is the shift from pursuing the “smartest” AI to prioritizing the AI that humans can trust.

A New Era: Quality Data Trumps Model Size

Dr.Tutanon Sinthuprasith, Head of R&D at SCBX, emphasized that the competitive landscape has fundamentally changed. “The race to build the largest models is over,” he stated. “Today, the real challenge is applying AI to deliver measurable business outcomes—while embracing responsibility.”

Dr.Tutanon argued that sustainable competitive advantage is no longer about the best model, but about accessing unique, high-quality data that competitors cannot replicate, combined with a robust ecosystem that seamlessly integrates diverse services. SCBX aims to empower Thai innovators by translating these complex shifts into actionable business strategies that unlock differentiated and sustainable growth.

Four Strategic AI Trends Driving the Future

The SCBX AI Outlook Vol.2 2025, compiled by the SCBX R&D and Innovation Lab, identifies four transformative trends that organizations and developers must understand to navigate risks, responsibilities, and new opportunities:

1. Closing the Gap – When Open Models Challenge the Giants

The competition between open-weight and closed-weight AI models is intensifying. While large proprietary models such as GPT-5 continue to lead in performance, the gap is narrowing rapidly thanks to breakthroughs from open models like Qwen and DeepSeek. This dynamic is driving a new era of more diverse, accessible AI products—benefiting both developers and enterprises worldwide.

2. Beyond Scaling – From Endless Growth to Smarter Paths of Reasoning

The age of limitless scaling is giving way to intelligent refinement. AI is evolving toward smarter reasoning rather than sheer size. Emerging techniques such as Reinforcement Learning enable AI systems to “think,” strategize, and solve complex problems with greater precision and efficiency—even with smaller architectures.

Saksorn Ruangtanusak, AI Researcher at SCBX said “We’re entering a crucial turning point where increasing model size is no longer the only answer. A new approach that emphasizes thinking wisely before answering is opening new dimensions for AI, enabling it to solve complex problems more efficiently using fewer resources. This will help organizations apply AI to business problems requiring deep analysis and careful decision-making.”

3. With Great AI Power Comes Great AI Responsibility – Growing Power, Growing Accountability

As AI power expands, so must accountability. Global regulatory efforts, including the EU AI Act, are establishing stringent safety and governance standards. The report underscores the growing need for responsible oversight—from security frameworks such as LawZero and Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) to the real-world implementation of Responsible AI principles that mitigate unintended harms.

Nut Chukampaeng, Senior AI Researcher at SCBX, believes, “In a world where fragility and complexity increase daily, building Responsible AI is not just an option but a necessity. We must design AI systems that are not only powerful but also transparent, auditable, and mindful of societal impact. This means embedding principles of ethics, fairness, and safety into every stage of AI development—from design to actual deployment. Organizations that can balance innovation with responsibility will be those who earn trust and achieve long-term success.”

4. The Reality Engine – Teaching AI How Reality Really Works

Leading researchers such as Fei-Fei Li and pioneers of World Models are teaching AI to understand the real world—not only through text but through physical and contextual grounding. By merging the strengths of DeepMind systems with large language models (LLMs), this approach is shaping AI that perceives and reasons about reality with human-like understanding.

The report concludes that AI is the driving force of a new world. Organizations that are best prepared will be those that integrate AI knowledge, form data-driven strategies, and cultivate workforce readiness. SCBX is committed to sharing this knowledge to help Thai enterprises become AI-First organizations.
