Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital, an affiliate of Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, in collaboration with IBM , have successfully completed a pilot initiative using Generative AI (Gen AI) to automate laboratory orders that support patient diagnosis and improve confidence, quality and speed in treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
IBM\u2019s Client Engineering team collaborated with Med CMU to build model with watsonx.data<\/strong> and watsonx.ai <\/strong>to analyse and interpret doctor\u2019s notes, recommend treatment pathways, and automatically handle laboratory orders and bookings, streamlining the process and improving efficiency. The collaboration complemented the hospital’s recently launch fully automated medical laboratory system with seamless, end-to-end processes, which is believed to be the first and only such system in Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Built on transparent, reliable data under global AI governance standards, the initiative is expected to enhance service efficiency, reduce patient waiting times, and support medical decision-making with accurate, comprehensive insights, increasing treatment confidence, quality, and speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “This successful milestone underscore our vision of creating excellence in service, treatment, and research development – not just in Chiang Mai or Thailand, but leading in ASEAN, aimed at maximum efficiency, quality, and patient satisfaction,” said Professor (Specialist) Dr. Bannakij Lojanapiwat<\/strong>, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University. “Choosing a world-class AI technology like IBM watsonx demonstrates our commitment to patient confidence, emphasizing system reliability, safety, transparency, and international healthcare standards.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University is the pioneer in implementing advanced technologies that is founded on trusted and unbiased data.
