hosting\u00a0\u201cFood Arcade\u201d, a special exhibition promoting Thailand\u2019s future food products at THAIFEX\u00a0\u2013\u00a0ANUGA ASIA 2025, taking place from 27\u201331 May 2025 at\u00a0the front hall of Challenger 2, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.\u00a0This year, the spotlight is on\u00a0\u201cAlternative Protein\u201d\u00a0innovations from Thai producers\u00a0\u2014\u00a0reaffirming Thailand\u2019s growing leadership in the future food sector with high-quality, export-ready products that align with rising global consumer trends focused on health, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternative protein\u00a0is rapidly emerging as a global food trend, with growing interest in plant-based proteins, insect-based sources, microbial protein and algae\u00a0\u2014\u00a0all recognised as high-quality, sustainable alternatives.\u00a0Thailand stands out in this field, thanks to its abundant raw materials, advanced production technologies, innovative approaches, and product diversity.\u00a0Thai entrepreneurs are also well-positioned to scale and adapt these products for international markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0Food Arcade\u00a0exhibition features a curated selection of alternative protein products from Thai producers, spanning four key categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Plant<\/strong><strong>&#8211;<\/strong><strong>based proteins<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0derived from soybeans, chickpeas, grains, and legumes that are naturally rich in protein.\u00a0These sources require fewer resources to produce, are environmentally friendly, and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions\u00a0\u2014\u00a0aligning with ESG environmental principles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Insect<\/strong><strong>&#8211;<\/strong><strong>based proteins<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0including crickets, silkworms, and mealworms, which are highly nutritious, fast-reproducing protein sources that require minimal land and water.\u00a0They also contribute to food security and offer income-generating opportunities for local communities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Microbial<\/strong><strong>&#8211;<\/strong><strong>based proteins<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0produced through fermentation using yeast or bacteria cultivated from agricultural or food industry by-products.\u00a0These proteins are not season-dependent, can be produced year-round, and offer efficient waste reduction while ensuring consistent quality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Algae<\/strong><strong>&#8211;<\/strong><strong>based proteins<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0sourced from both micro and macro algae that can grow in saline or wastewater environments.\u00a0These organisms absorb atmospheric CO\u2082 and release oxygen back into the ecosystem, making them a sustainable protein alternative that also contributes to environmental restoration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Another highlight of the exhibition is a series of\u00a0interactive activities\u00a0designed to enhance the visitor experience and deepen understanding of future food, particularly in the field of alternative proteins.\u00a0These include\u00a0complimentary tastings of special snacks and beverages made from alternative proteins, with recipes developed by well-known restaurants, as well as\u00a0sample giveaways\u00a0from the featured alternative protein exhibitors.\u00a0These engaging activities not only add vibrancy to the event, but also offer visitors a glimpse into the commercial possibilities of these products\u00a0\u2014\u00a0and a chance to discover that the taste of future food can be just as delicious and familiar as today\u2019s favourites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Food Arcade exhibition further reinforces DITP\u2019s commitment to systematically and continuously advancing Thailand\u2019s future food industry.\u00a0It also reflects the department\u2019s determination to empower Thai entrepreneurs in seizing new business opportunities through world-class trade platforms such as\u00a0THAIFEX\u00a0\u2013\u00a0ANUGA
