The round was led by SeaX Ventures, a Thai-based venture capital firm, with additional support from investors including Pale Blue Dot, First Momentum, and Energie360\u00b0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company also received a \u20ac1.8 million grant from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator to further its research and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the core of Brineworks&#8217; innovation is a patented electrolyzer designed to capture carbon dioxide (CO\u2082) from the atmosphere at an unprecedentedly low cost, while also co-producing hydrogen (H\u2082). Both outputs are key components for creating Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and e-methanol, offering a clear path to decarbonizing the aviation and shipping industries, which currently account for over 5% of global emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gudfinnur Sveinsson<\/strong>, CEO of Brineworks, stated, \u201cWe\u2019ve built an electrolyzer that runs when the sun shines or the wind blows, and pauses when it doesn\u2019t. We\u2019re unlocking a dream that\u2019s been out of reach for decades.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Joseph Perryman<\/strong>, co-founder and CTO, added, &#8220;We have a clear path to capturing CO\u2082 directly from the air at below $100 per ton. That&#8217;s the threshold the world has been waiting for, and now the scale-up begins.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This new capital will be used to scale the system to a pilot level, with commercial readiness targeted for late 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Kid Parchariyanon<\/strong>, Founder and Managing Partner of SeaX Ventures, expressed confidence in the investment. \u201cTheir team is rethinking how we tackle carbon removal and clean fuel from the ground up.
