Five-year collaboration targets AI adoption across telecom, finance and retail, while aiming to equip up to three million people in Thailand with cloud and AI skills<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group), Arise Ventures Group, True Corporation and Amazon have announced a five-year collaboration aimed at accelerating artificial intelligence adoption across key industries and strengthening Thailand\u2019s position as a regional digital and AI hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Announced at CP Group\u2019s \u201cThailand AI National Mission\u201d event in Bangkok on August 26, the collaboration combines CP Group\u2019s business ecosystem and customer reach with Amazon\u2019s experience in e-commerce, AI and customer experience, alongside the cloud and AI capabilities of Amazon Web Services (AWS). The companies plan to develop capabilities spanning AI, cloud infrastructure, digital services and talent development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A central part of the initiative is workforce development. CP Group, Arise and True aim to work with AWS to equip up to three million people across Thailand, including employees within the group, with cloud and AI skills through learning programmes, hands-on training, certifications and real-world innovation projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The push comes as Thailand continues to face a digital skills gap. The announcement cites International Telecommunication Union data showing that around 74% of Thai youth and adults lack foundational digital skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI FOR ALL targets nationwide innovation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The companies also introduced \u201cAI FOR ALL\u201d, a national AI innovation hackathon powered by AWS. Open to Thai citizens aged 18 and above, the programme will invite professionals, students and the wider public to develop generative AI prototypes addressing challenges in areas including healthcare, agriculture and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond skills development, the collaboration is designed to apply AI across CP Group\u2019s major businesses, particularly telecommunications, financial services and retail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For True Corporation, the initiative supports its ambition to become an AI-first organisation. AWS and CP Group plan to explore a cloud operating model designed to improve application resilience, security and governance across True\u2019s IT environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI-powered customer service is expected to support more responsive digital channels, while predictive maintenance and real-time fault resolution could reduce manual intervention in network operations. True also plans to explore the use of Amazon Leo connectivity services, through its Thai landing rights holder, to extend broadband access to underserved communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ascend Money eyes AI-driven financial services<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In financial services, Ascend Money, an Arise-affiliated fintech company, plans to run AI-driven credit scoring and loan origination capabilities on AWS, with the aim of expanding access to financial services among underbanked people in Thailand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company also intends to use AI to strengthen electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC), identity verification and fraud detection, while developing more personalised wealth-management services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another focus is the expansion of CP Group\u2019s existing AI Center of Excellence with AWS support. Initial priorities include a unified customer identity system known as Single ID, retail and supply-chain optimisation, customer experience transformation and next-generation digital services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AWS also plans to bring development and workplace AI tools including Kiro, its AI-powered software development environment, and Amazon Quick, a generative AI assistant for workplace productivity. A cross-functional AWS team is expected to work alongside technology teams from CP Group and True.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI moves into more than 19,000 retail locations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Retail is another major component of the collaboration. CP Group aims to transform more than 19,000 locations across 7-Eleven, Lotus\u2019s and Makro through technologies designed to make shopping more personalised and improve operational efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposed capabilities include cloud-native supply-chain planning and machine-learning-based demand forecasting to improve stock availability and inventory management. The companies also plan to develop an intelligent retail media network with real-time conversion tracking, while computer vision could be used for store compliance monitoring and shelf management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said Thailand has an opportunity to become a regional digital technology and innovation hub, but achieving that ambition will require readiness across digital infrastructure, energy and water resources, regulation and talent development, as well as the ability to attract startups, innovators and skilled professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suphachai said the collaboration would combine the strengths of CP Group, Arise and True with AWS\u2019s cloud and AI capabilities to accelerate practical technology adoption. The broader ambition includes cloud and data-centre infrastructure, emerging technologies, data governance and Responsible AI, while strengthening links among government, businesses, universities, startups and technology companies through CP Group\u2019s innovation ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said Responsible AI would underpin the programme to ensure Thailand can benefit from global technology while maintaining trust, governance and critical national capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaime Valles, Vice President and Managing Director for Asia Pacific, Japan and China at AWS, <\/strong>said AWS would bring its cloud and AI capabilities and innovation experience to the collaboration, with a focus on accelerating AI adoption across telecommunications, financial services, retail and workforce development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
