The programme combines displays on the carmaker\u2019s safety technology with discussions involving industry specialists and vehicle owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initiative places consumer education at the centre of Volvo\u2019s outreach, with a focus on explaining how vehicle design, occupant protection and accident prevention contribute to EV safety beyond the battery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Chris Wailes, managing director of Volvo Car Thailand and Malaysia,<\/strong> said the company wanted to give consumers greater access to the research and engineering behind its safety systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cVolvo Excellence provides an opportunity to engage openly with Thai consumers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-dominant-color=\"89838b\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #89838b;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"532\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thestorythailand.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1792929497_920097-thestorythailand.avif\" alt=\"Volvo Excellence \" class=\"wp-image-279534 not-transparent\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thestorythailand.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1792929497_920097-thestorythailand.avif 800w, https:\/\/www.thestorythailand.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1792929497_920097-thestorythailand-300x200.avif 300w, https:\/\/www.thestorythailand.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1792929497_920097-thestorythailand-768x511.avif 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the exhibition\u2019s opening, a panel discussion examined battery technology, vehicle engineering and common concerns surrounding EV ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speakers included Thanomsak Santanaprasit, Volvo Car Thailand\u2019s customer service director, and Associate Professor Yossapong Laoonual, assistant to the president for sustainability and head of the Mobility &amp; Vehicle Technology Research Center at King Mongkut\u2019s University of Technology Thonburi. A Volvo owner and EV content creator also joined the discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exhibition traces the company\u2019s safety development over nearly a century, from mechanical restraints to systems designed to detect hazards and help prevent collisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the technologies featured is the three-point seat belt, developed by Volvo engineer Nils Bohlin in 1959. Other milestones include rear-facing child seats, side-impact airbags and the company\u2019s whiplash protection system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Later developments include blind-spot monitoring and pedestrian detection with automatic braking, illustrating the expanding role of sensors and software in vehicle safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Volvo is also presenting its Safe Space Technology approach, which combines occupant protection, collision avoidance, driver assistance and monitoring systems. The company says these technologies are designed to help prevent accidents and reduce injuries when crashes occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The programme draws on Volvo\u2019s use of laboratory testing and real-world accident research to develop safety features. By presenting that work alongside discussions about electric vehicles, the company aims to give prospective buyers a broader understanding of how safety systems function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exhibition is open to the public at the Fashion Hall on the first floor of Siam Paragon. Its subsequent dealership tour will extend the consumer education programme beyond the Bangkok event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a
