{"id":76162,"date":"2022-09-12T14:40:14","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T07:40:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thestorythailand.com\/?p=76162"},"modified":"2022-09-12T14:40:19","modified_gmt":"2022-09-12T07:40:19","slug":"forward-has-successfully-closed-its-usd-5-million-seed-round","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thestorythailand.com\/en\/forward-has-successfully-closed-its-usd-5-million-seed-round\/","title":{"rendered":"Forward has successfully closed its USD 5 million seed round"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Forward, a Thai digital asset and blockchain startup focusing on protocol development for decentralized derivative exchange and DeFi platform, has successfully closed its USD 5 million seed round within just 6 months of fundraising, despite severe economic uncertainty and high volatility in the digital asset landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The round was led by RPVAF-1, a global VC fund under Primestreet Capital, with participation from&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Beacon Venture Capital from Kasikornbank;&nbsp;<\/li><li>KASIKORN X from Kasikornbank; &nbsp;<\/li><li>Krungsri Finnovate from Bank of Ayudhya, a member of the Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG); and&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>together with&nbsp;Ratanakorn Technology Group, GBV Capital and Varys Capital&nbsp;who have&nbsp;confirmed their investments earlier in this round.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Chanon Charatsuttikul,\u00a0Co-founder and CEO of Forward<\/strong>, revealed that Forward is the world&#8217;s first DeFi\u00a0project to receive investments from global funds and two major Thai banks. \u201cI believe that there is hope for Thailand to become a center of innovation and technology.\u00a0We have investors who are ready to support new talents.\u00a0The closing of this seed round, for me, is the beginning of a big challenge for\u00a0the team to maximize our potential and grow\u00a0the organization, and help make Thailand\u00a0stand\u00a0out as a country of innovation, just like western countries.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe majority of\u00a0trading volume occurs at Binance, the world&#8217;s largest\u00a0crypto exchange,\u00a0and it\u00a0mainly comes from derivative products. The trading volume of derivative products is approximately 3 times\u00a0larger than\u00a0the spot volume and it is still growing.\u00a0Thus,\u00a0Forward is focusing on developing a decentralized derivative platform, which is non-custodial with a system that prohibits transactions from sanctioned countries and addresses.\u00a0\u00a0We have a strong team backed by PhDs\u00a0working\u00a0day and night to develop a newly\u00a0invented protocol,\u00a0called the Automated Position Hedger\u00a0(APH),\u00a0which is unlike anything seen before.\u00a0In addition,\u00a0we always\u00a0take it very seriously in terms of legal issues,\u00a0accounting\u00a0standards, and the safety of the investors\u2019 assets,\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Asst.
