dtac Launches “dtac Safe” Service to Safeguard Thai Internet Users from Surging Cyber Threats

dtac is committed to being a safe and reliable internet service provider under the strategy “Fast Forward Digital” and aims to provide inclusive digital transformation for Thai people equally and securely. To this end, dtac has launched “dtac Safe” a new cybersecurity service for dtac subscribers that provides security against increasingly widespread cyber threats in the booming digital era.

ThaiCERT says that in 2021, Thais will face 2,250 cyber threats of all kinds. More than 700,000 IPs in Bangkok alone were infected with malware*. These threats have resulted from a rise in digital access among Thai users without sufficient knowledge around safeguarding against constant vulnerabilities and threats.

dtac Safe service promotes confidence in the digital era

dtac Safe is a new cybersecurity service on the dtac app. dtac Safe is the latest innovation of the Beyond Mobile Connectivity services. It offers cloud-based security against a wide range of cyber threats, including malware, viruses, phishing, ransomware, botnets, and command & control attacks on compromised servers.

dtac Safe alerts customers of malicious websites and prevents access whenever a link is found to pose a cyber threat or is censored. The service also updates automatically, requiring no user input. The dtac Safe service is available for free to dtac users for the first two months, and costs just 29 Baht a month thereafter.

How Lih Ren, Chief Marketing Officer, Total Access Communication PLC or dtac, said, “dtac is committed to offering a superlative experience to our subscribers with an elevated level of security. By collaborating with cyber security experts Cyan. We offer dtac Safe as an easy-to-use cyber security solution against malware that can disrupt or cause damage to your hardware and software, and phishing scams that steal personal data by pretending to be legitimate websites. we believe that cyber security is one of the most worrying issues for users of digital services.”

In addition to actively developing tools that ensure a safer digital experience, dtac also supports government policies led by the Electronic Transaction Development Agency (ETDA) by creating public awareness on the critical importance of cybersecurity in a growing and sustainable digital economy. The ETDA’s mission is to ensure that the country’s electronic transactions are of the highest security standards, including electronic transactions pertaining to public services.

Dr. Chaichana Mitrpant, Director of the Electronic Transaction Development Agency (ETDA) said, “Promoting secure online transactions and increasing user confidence are important goals for the ETDA and its partners. We also advise on applicable standards and legal requirements, as well as promote public awareness around safe online transactions. The rise in internet use via various services puts Thai people at an increased risk of cyber threats. As a private sector organization focused on developing tools for internet safety, dtac provides much-welcome support to government sector efforts. These joint efforts to raise awareness and make online transactions safer contribute to Thailand’s national development.”

Moreover, dtac is committed to laying strong digital foundations for the next generation. It is the first telecom operator in Thailand to initiate a program to build digital safety skills among children and youth with the dtac Safe Internet program. This year, dtac has collaborated with the ETDA to implement the Digital Citizen course – based on the DQ Framework jointly developed by dtac and ETDA – at the 4th Young Safe Internet Leaders Cyber Camp this coming school holiday in April.
