QSNCC received ISO20121:2012, Event Sustainability Management System

The Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) received ISO20121:2012, Event Sustainability Management System – Requirements with guidance for use, from SGS (Societe Generale de Surveillance), the world’s premier testing, inspection, and certification firm. This accomplishment solidifies QSNCC’s position as a leader in event sustainability management services.

The standard ISO20121:2012, Event Sustainability Management System, was officially issued in 2012. It provides guidance on improving the sustainability of event-related activities to contribute to the three pillars of sustainability: economic, environmental, and social. Various global events, including the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, and the 18th Asian Games Jakarta-Palembang 2018, have used Event Sustainability Management Systems to manage the sustainability of the event and control their social, economic, and environmental impact.

The QSNCC’s achievement of the ISO20121:2012 standard is another step in establishing event management services that align with national and global sustainable development goals. We set the policy and implemented initiatives in three pillars of sustainability: environment, social, and economic. The environmental initiative includes following the plan of action to optimize the benefit of the resource, utilizing renewable energy, and using eco-friendly products. The social effort includes installing a safety system that meets international standards so that our employees and visitors can be confident that their safety is our top priority. The economy initiative encompasses  good governance, transparency, and accountability in corporate management.

In addition to the ISO20121:2012 standard, QSNCC has been accredited with ISO22000: Food Safety Management System Standard, ISO9001: Quality Management System Standard, and the Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration (SHA), which oversees tourist sanitation and safety. These certification accomplishments instill trust in both domestic and global organizers, enhance the event standard to an international level,  and confirm QSNCC’s dedication to being a sustainable venue for all types of national and international events.
