True Corporation announced the successful completion of its ambitious “One Network” strategy, finalizing the integration of True and dtac’s mobile towers across Thailand. This milestone creates ASEAN’s largest mobile network and initiates a significant “Power Up” phase, setting a new industry benchmark for superior speed, coverage, and reliability for all True and dtac customers.
Sigve Brekke, Group Chief Executive Officer of True Corporation Plc., stated, “We today mark a major milestone in ASEAN’s largest network modernization, signifying a pivotal step toward delivering exceptional network experiences for our customers and unlocking greater synergy value for our shareholders. This achievement is the result of an extraordinary collective effort from our network experts, who, over the past two and a half years, contributed over 17 million man-hours to the ‘One Network’ project, climbing a combined vertical distance exceeding 2,000 kilometers.”
Network Modernization: Unifying for Superior Performance
The core of the “One Network” initiative is a comprehensive Network Modernization strategy, which combines the best tower assets and infrastructure of True and dtac into a single, unified, and stronger network. This utilizes Spectrum Pooling nationwide, allowing customers of both brands to seamlessly share merged spectrum assets for stronger signal quality, faster speeds, and more consistent performance.
Significant Speed Boost and 5G Leadership
The project has dramatically improved network capacity and speed, particularly for 5G services:
- 5G Speed Surge: dtac customers have seen the most significant benefit, with 5G speeds increasing by 4.39 times. True customers have also experienced a 1.09 times improvement, highlighting a major enhancement in network performance for both brands.
- Full Spectrum Utilization: The upgrade enables the full 90 MHz bandwidth utilization of the 2600 MHz spectrum for 5G deployment.
- Advanced Technology: The network leverages Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) for flexible co-existence of 5G and 4G on the 2600 MHz band, and is actively enhancing the 2300 MHz spectrum for increased data capacity and future 5G use. The addition of the new 1500 MHz band will further ensure a faster and more stable experience.
- Cyber Safety: Beyond speed, True prioritizes customer safety through True CyberSafe, which uses advanced AI to detect, block, and alert users to cyber threats in real-time.
Sustainability and Global Recognition
The “One Network” modernization delivers not only performance gains but also significant environmental benefits. By reducing redundant towers and improving power efficiency through AI and Machine Learning, True Corporation projects a 15-20 percent reduction in carbon emissions, aligning with its goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030.
This network integration success is further supported by nPerf, which has recognized True 5G as Thailand’s Best Network for nine consecutive years, especially for superior upload speeds and low latency. The combination of True’s low-latency strength and dtac’s high Quality of Experience in browsing and streaming ensures customers now enjoy the best possible digital experience.
