Thai HealthTech ‘Kalguroo’ closes Seed Round for SEA expansion

Kalguroo แอปนับแคลอรีสัญชาติไทย ปิดระดมทุนรอบ Seed เสริมแกร่งธุรกิจสู่โค้ชสุขภาพส่วนตัว

Kalguroo, a Thai AI-powered calorie-tracking application, has closed its Seed funding round led by a group of medical doctors and healthtech specialists. The capital will be utilized to expand operations across Southeast Asia and transition the platform from a calorie-tracking tool into a personalized digital health coach.

The application allows users to photograph a plate of food to receive calorie and macronutrient data within seconds. Since its launch in July 2025, this feature has driven over one million downloads across 152 countries. Operating with a core team of eight employees, the company has generated approximately THB 20 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR).

Kalguroo was co-founded by Apichit Rungjirapirat (CEO), Jittaranan Tipboonde (CTO), Atchanan Watthanaphongsaphat (Chief Data and AI Officer), and Pichaporn Kummalue (Head of Design) with the objective of simplifying weight management and health tracking by replacing manual meal logging with image-based nutritional analysis.

The core technology integrates multimodal AI for food-image analysis with a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipeline linked to the company’s proprietary Thai food database. This framework utilizes verified nutritional data rather than relying solely on AI model estimations, reducing data variance for complex Asian and Thai dishes with diverse ingredients and cooking methods.

The newly secured capital will fund several product developments, primarily a Personalised AI Coach that offers nutrition and health guidance adjusted to user goals based on historical data. Additionally, the company will build country-specific food databases to improve localized accuracy for international expansion.

Future operational plans include launching a Health Commerce feature to provide users access to related products, including protein supplements, health foods, and fitness equipment. Kalguroo also intends to establish local partnerships with Thai hospitals, medical professionals, fitness operators, and health organizations to diversify the platform beyond dietary tracking.

While initially scaling from Thailand, the company is targeting the broader Southeast Asian digital health market, which was valued at US$18.4 billion in 2025 and is projected to grow at an annual rate of 8.4% according to IMARC Group. Under this market framework, Kalguroo aims to increase its ARR from the current THB 20 million to THB 100 million by the end of this year.
