LG launches Robotics Business Center to drive Physical AI

แอลจีเปิดตัว Robotics Business Center ขับเคลื่อนยุทธศาสตร์ Physical AI ครบวงจร

LG Electronics (LG) has announced the establishment of a specialized Robotics Business Center to centralize its core commercialization capabilities, spanning business development, supply chain management, and manufacturing operations. The new organization reports directly to CEO Lyu Jae-cheol as part of the company’s strategy to develop robotics into a core future business.

Organizational Realignment and Data Factory Integration

Effective July 1, 2026, the Robotics Business Center is formed through an off-cycle organizational realignment, occurring four months ahead of the company’s annual restructuring cycle to accelerate its Physical AI-based robotics operations. Operating as an end-to-end business unit covering development, sales, and operations, the center is led by Song Si-yong, a former executive at LG’s Production Engineering Research Institute.

The center will establish a dedicated data factory organization to capture operational data for robot training and the advancement of LG’s Robot Foundation Model (RFM). To support this initiative, LG is constructing a large-scale data factory at its Yangjae R&D Campus in Seoul, with operations scheduled to commence within this year.

Corporate Governance and the “One LG Solution”

The newly introduced governance structure aims to streamline decision-making frameworks to support strategy execution, internal core technology development, and cost competitiveness.

Operating as a self-contained business, the center will consolidate capabilities from across the broader corporation under the “One LG Solution” framework. This setup integrates expertise from affiliates including LG CNS and LG AI Research, while establishing a foundation for expanded strategic partnerships with international technology leaders.

Three-Pillar Strategy for Industrial, Commercial, and Residential Markets

LG will implement a comprehensive, three-pillar strategy targeting industrial, commercial, and residential sectors. The Robotics Business Center will integrate the company’s expanding portfolio, combining home robotics with the industrial robotics capabilities of Robostar and the commercial robotics expertise of Bear Robotics.

Designating 2026 as the inaugural year of its robotics business expansion, LG aims to serve as a Physical AI solution provider. The company will integrate finished robot products, core components like actuators, data-generation capabilities, and the LG Group’s full-stack ecosystem to support real-world commercialization. Furthermore, LG is preparing domestic production lines for actuators, leveraging over 60 years of corporate motor technology expertise to support the industry supply chain.
