NTT DATA integrates Cursor AI into global software engineering engine

NTT DATA integrates Cursor AI into global software engineering engine

NTT DATA, an AI, digital business, and technology services provider, today announced a strategic partnership with multi-model AI coding platform Cursor. Under the agreement, NTT DATA will integrate Cursor’s AI agents into its global software engineering and delivery models. The deployment aims to accelerate the design, construction, and modernization of legacy enterprise systems while maintaining operational governance and control.

The collaboration forms part of NTT DATA’s broader shift toward becoming an AI-native services company. By embedding AI agents directly into its engineering operations, the company seeks to accelerate legacy system modernization, support cloud and AI transformations, and establish consistency across its global delivery environments under enterprise-grade controls.

Integration of Enterprise Governance and Engineering

Integrating AI agents at the engineering layer is intended to align application development and modernization with enterprise-wide AI strategies, expanding NTT DATA’s full-stack service portfolio.

“Enterprise modernization is no longer just about moving systems to the cloud—it is about reimagining how software is built and operated in the age of AI,” said Abhijit Dubey, CEO and Chief AI Officer of NTT DATA, Inc. “Through our partnership with Cursor, we will use AI in the core of our engineering and delivery model, enabling us to modernize faster, improve consistency at scale and deliver greater value to clients.”

Cursor’s platform embeds AI agents directly into developer environments to write, review, refactor, and modernize code utilizing codebase-wide context across multiple models. For NTT DATA, this setup combines AI acceleration with centralized enterprise governance features, including organization-wide privacy mode, Single Sign-On (SSO), centralized administration, granular agent controls, and audit-ready policy enforcement. These features are designed to provide scalable, responsible AI adoption for joint clients while modernizing legacy codebases.

Rollout Plans and Scalability

Jordan Topoleski, Chief Operating Officer at Cursor, noted that the combination of Cursor agents with enterprise governance and structured enablement demonstrates how AI can scale software construction and delivery across global enterprises.

NTT DATA will initially deploy Cursor Enterprise to its priority engineering teams, with plans to expand the rollout globally. Additionally, the company intends to establish a dedicated Cursor Center of Excellence to scale these AI-native capabilities across its global industry practices.
