True with Google launches ‘AI for All Thais’

True with Google launches 'AI for All Thais'

True Corporation Plc., in partnership with Google, has officially launched the “AI for All Thais” initiative, marking the first nationwide effort of its kind in Thailand. The program is designed to democratize AI education and bridge the country’s digital skills gap by integrating globally aligned artificial intelligence learning directly into the university credit system.

The initiative represents a multi-sector collaboration involving the private sector strength of True, the global technology leadership of Google, and policy support from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) alongside leading academic institutions.

Key features of the program include:

  • AI First Citizen: Foundational learning via the Gemini Academy (online and offline).
  • AI for Future Workforce: A 45-hour special course that can be officially counted toward academic credits.
  • Connectivity Support: True is providing free 10GB data for True and dtac students to facilitate online learning.
  • Competitions: National-level AI contests with study visits to Google Singapore for winners.

Integrating AI into the Academic Curriculum

At the heart of this movement is the “AI for Future Workforce” program, which elevates AI from mere awareness to formal implementation within university curricula. This credit-bearing integration will be piloted with over 20 leading universities before expanding nationwide.

Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Minister of MHESI, said that “In an era where technology is rapidly transforming the world, AI workforce development is no longer merely an option, but a ‘national agenda’ that we must accelerate. Thailand continues to face a significant shortage of as many as 80,000 AI professionals, while AI adoption across organizations remains limited. MHESI is therefore committed to serving as a key driving force in turning this challenge into an opportunity. We are ready to fully support and advance this initiative to equip Thais with future-ready digital skills, elevate the learning ecosystem, and prepare our people to compete on the global stage with strength and confidence.”

“The nationwide collaboration taking shape today stands as a powerful testament to the synergy among the government, education sector, and industry. MHESI has a clear goal to concretely integrate AI into educational curricula. We aim to create a comprehensive learning pathway from building strong foundations to cultivating highly skilled specialists in order to develop talent with practical capabilities and real-world readiness. This collective effort not only addresses the needs of today’s labor market, but also lays a strong foundation for Thailand to advance toward a sustainable economy driven by AI innovation in the long term.”, Prof. Dr. Yodchanan said.

True’s Vision for an AI-First Organization

Sigve Brekke, Group CEO of True Corporation Plc.

Sigve Brekke, Group CEO of True Corporation Plc., said that “Across industries worldwide, global firms consistently agree that the biggest barrier to AI adoption is not technology, but the lack of skills, limiting AI’s full potential. True is moving toward becoming an AI-First organization, with the ambition to build ‘AI for All’, making AI relevant, accessible, and affordable for all Thais, while embedding the principles of responsible AI, with a target to empower 12 million people by 2030.

This starts with our people. This year, all True employees will build a strong foundation in AI. From there, we will continue to deepen their capabilities from applying AI in their daily work to creating AI-driven solutions and innovations that drive real business impact, with the responsible use of AI as a core principle at all levels. Through our partnership with Google, we aim to scale this effort beyond our organization, empowering Thais to become a future-ready workforce in a new landscape reshaped by AI technologies.”

The “AI for All Thais” by True initiative is part of Charoen Pokphand Group’s broader effort to advance Thailand’s AI ecosystem through the CP Center of Excellence (CP-CoE) at True Digital Park. Serving as a hub for Digital & AI and Data Infrastructure, CP-CoE is designed to holistically develop AI knowledge, innovation, and talent by connecting collaboration across the business, technology, and education sectors, with the shared goal of accelerating Thailand’s long-term AI capabilities.

Google’s Commitment to “Leave No Thai Behind”

The initiative reflects a strong commitment from all sectors to advance AI learning at a national scale. True leverages its digital infrastructure and nationwide ecosystem to expand access to learning and connect students, institutions, and digital platforms across the country.

Google supports the initiative by providing AI knowledge and curricula designed to equip students with the skills to use Generative AI safely, while enhancing their creativity and productivity through Gemini. Meanwhile, MHESI provides policy direction and supports the integration of AI into Thailand’s higher education system, while universities play a vital role in applying AI to teaching and learning and fostering innovation through real-world practice.

Saranee Boonritthongchai, Marketing Director, Consumer Products, Southeast Asia and South Asia Frontier, Google said that “In 2018, Google made a bold pledge to ‘Leave No Thai Behind’, a commitment that continues to shape our initiatives and ensure Thais can thrive in the digital age. Today, we are taking a significant step forward in that mission through our collaboration with True. By bringing Google’s global AI expertise directly into Thai classrooms, we are bridging the digital skills gap and preparing students for an AI-driven economy. Through programs like Gemini Academy for Students and our AI Literacy & Safety Modules, we’re committed to empowering the next generation to use generative AI safely while elevating their creativity and productivity.”

Under “AI for All Thais”, True and its partners have jointly designed a comprehensive AI learning pathway, covering foundational knowledge through to real-world application at the university level. The program aims to provide students with concrete opportunities to learn and develop practical AI skills.

Strategic Two-Phase Implementation

The “AI for All Thais” initiative will be rolled out in two distinct phases:

  • Phase I: AI First Citizen Focused on foundational knowledge, including AI Safety, Digital Literacy, and Prompt Engineering. Students can participate in “AI for Daily Life” and “AI for Society” competitions, with winners earning a study visit to Google’s Singapore headquarters.
  • Phase II: AI for Future Workforce A specialized 45-hour curriculum co-developed by True and Google. This phase includes a “Train-the-Trainer” program for university instructors and high-level competitions. Sixteen winners from four teams will also receive the opportunity to visit Google in Singapore.
