KBTG launches Tech Kampus ClassNest to upskill talents for the Thai tech market,

KBTG teamed up with Skooldio in organizing a Java bootcamp – the first program presented by IT gurus from leading organizations.

KASIKORN Business-Technology Group (KBTG) has unveiled Tech Kampus ClassNest to upskill tech talents as part of its effort to bolster Thai IT market capabilities. To this end, a Java software engineering bootcamp – the first course – will be jointly held with Skooldio, a leading EdTech startup that is well-versed in digital and technology skills, to hone participants’ skills that are sought by most businesses. A total of 100 scholarships will be awarded to course attendees. Applications are welcome from today until February 6, 2022.

Ruangroj Poonpol, KBTG Group Chairman, noted that technological innovation has played a pivotal role in driving the economy. Focus should therefore be on IT personnel development to ensure that they are knowledgeable and capable in order to meet market demand. Being an organization that acts as technology enabler for the business sector, KBTG has launched Tech Kampus ClassNest in continuation from Tech Kampus with the aim of upskilling and bolstering the potential of IT developers.

Course participants will gain real-world technology skills that are presently in demand in the industry. The course has been designed by KBTG experts and other leading specialists from various fields who will share their experience with participants.

For its first program under Tech Kampus ClassNest, KBTG has teamed with Skooldio, a leading educational startup with expertise in enhancement of technological and digital skills, to create an online course, Java Software Engineering Bootcamp. The purpose of this course is to teach about the Java programming language, an important skill required by first-class tech companies, with focus on the following aspects of software engineering:

– Advanced Programming Topics: Key concepts for advancing to the position of senior developer, for example, system analysis, basic understanding of technology, DevSecOps and usage of version control system to work with the team

– Software Architecture Design: Necessary software architecture for designing enterprise-level software, and other factors for consideration when choosing appropriate software architectures for different applications

– API Design Considerations: Importance of API and how to design API, with topics such as Synchronous/Asynchronous, Data, Data Encryption, Security, OAuth, API Versioning and API Documentation

– Database Considerations: Notable features of each type of database, including the topics of SQL/NoSQL, Database Technologies, and selection of database to match with the type of work for maximum efficiency of data storage and usage

– LargeScale Software Development: Design principles and techniques for large-scale systems to ensure system stability, including Microservices Design Patterns that are extensively in use and how to choose the ones to suit the systems under development

Participants in the course will be able to upskill themselves and acquire knowledge that has been intensively screened by a team of specialists such as Somkiat Puisungnoen, Technical Coach, and Software Craftsman at Siam Chamnankit Co., Ltd; Varayut Lerdkanlayanawat, former Software Development Engineer at Amazon; irayut Nimsaeng, Thailand’s firstCertified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) and Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS); Chakrit Likitkhajorn, Senior Consultant at ThoughtWorks, and former Engineering Team Lead at Omise; and Pongsakorn Teeraparpwong, CTO at Hato Hub, and former Software Development Engineer at Amazon. These gurus will coach participants throughout the five-week course. Once participants complete the course, they will have gained knowledge in application design and large-scale system management in preparation for joining leading technology firms.

Dr. Virot Chiraphadhanakul, Co-founder & Managing Director, Skooldio Co., Ltd., added that the course has been designed to be different from other courses in the market as Skooldio intends to close a significant gap in the developer field by allowing developers to jump from the status of a junior developer to a senior developer.

Instead of the previous work of simply designing a small feature or software element alone, a sufficiently knowledgeable developer working for a large organization will be able to recognize the scale of operations, engage in teamwork, conduct test cases and write clean code in order to perform their tasks more effectively. With this in mind, the bootcamp’s ultimate goal is not simply to roll out Java developers who can write Java, but produce Java developers with outstanding knowledge and expertise, plus an understanding of designing and building a big system.

Under this course, Skooldio has used the digital and technological upskill experiences of more than 70,000 learners nationwide to design a program that combines self-paced online learning with live and virtual classroom learning, with the aim of making it more suitable for prospective developers.

The Java Software Engineer Bootcamp is open to 100 participants with existing IT knowledge and code-writing skills in any language. Prior knowledge of Java language is not required. Applicants must take a pre-test to gauge their existing software development skills.

The 100 individuals who qualify for the course will receive a scholarship from KBTG, with tuition fee reduced from 25,000 Baht to 5,000 Baht. Upon completing the course, participants can submit their post-test scores to enter the final round of interviews for job opportunities at KBTG. If they succeed in becoming full-time KBTG employees and pass the probation period, the 5,000 Baht will be returned to participants.

Thus, this is an opportunity for learners to upskill themselves at no expense. Applications for the bootcamp are open from today until February 6, 2022, and the course will run from February 12 to March 20, 2022. For more details and application criteria, please visit here

Ruangroj adds that KBTG is determined to enhance the quality of technology education in Thailand and create a new generation of talents with great potential. Continuous efforts have been made via the Tech Kampus program, which was initiated in 2021 through collaboration with two government agencies and seven universities in teaching, developing courses and researching new technology.

The launch of Tech Kampus ClassNest in 2022 focuses on providing intensive upskilling. KBTG will continuously produce courses to boost skills that are in high demand and are relevant to the market at present and in the future, allowing Thailand’s IT labor market to advance to the regional level.
