TrueMoney launches Thailand’s cross-border mobile payment in China

TrueMoney, has launched Thailand’s cross-border mobile payment service in China, via Alipay+, a suite of cross-border digital payment, marketing and digitalization solutions, operated by Ant Group.

Thai travelers now can pay with TrueMoney at over tens of millions merchants in China and enjoy secure and smooth cashless payment with transparent and competitive exchange rates. Additional promotional deals via Alipay+ Rewards, a digital cross-border marketing hub integrated on the TrueMoney app are also available.

Monsinee Nakapanant, Co-President of Ascend Money Co., Ltd. – the operator of TrueMoney said; “Our cooperation with Ant Group marks a significant milestone in our streamlining cross-border payment, making it just as effortless internationally as domestically for users. China is an attractive destination for many Thai business and leisure travelers.

Thanks to our partnership with Ant Group and Alipay+’s vast ecosystem, TrueMoney is now accepted across more than tens of million merchants in China. All that we are certain to fulfill the traveler’s journey and make their trip more memorable.”

Ant Group recently welcomed seven new leading e-wallets and payment apps from Asia to the “Alipay+-in-China” program (A+China program), a major initiative of Ant Group to help China internationalize mobile payment services. The new additions, including TrueMoney Thailand, bring the total number of overseas e-wallets accepted in the Chinese mainland to ten.

Douglas Feagin, Senior Vice President of Ant Group and Head of Alipay+ Cross-Border Mobile Payment Services, said “Our Alipay+ ecosystem has grown significantly, with new payment partners and greater acceptance by merchants worldwide. We have a long-standing and fruitful partnership with TrueMoney.

Through Alipay +, TrueMoney users can already enjoy transaction with many global online merchants as well as retail stores in countries that are top travel destinations for Thais, including Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and all the way to the United Kingdom, Italy and France. Enabling TrueMoney as a payment option in the Chinese mainland is yet another milestone in our journey together, of which I’m certain there will be many more to come.”

Previously, Thai travelers to China usually faced challenges of having limited cashless payment options as few credit and debit cards were accepted. Many of them therefore rely on cash and money exchange. Now they can enjoy secure and smooth cashless payment and real-time foreign exchange at competitive rates by just opening TrueMoney app and go to payment QR, click Alipay+ tab, and choose country of destination. The TrueMoney’s wallet balance will be automatically converted to Yuan currency and ready for payment scan at any merchants with Alipay sign.

“Since the end of last year, TrueMoney has expanded cross-border payment service and become available at Thais’ top favorite Asian destinations like Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia. Adding China to our latest country outreach doubles down our efforts in making sure TrueMoney is available to serve Thais wherever they are.

We look forward to expanding our global partnership with Alipay+ and securing more overseas affiliates to enable payment in a broader range of places globally,” said Koravut Pavitpok, Head of Commercial at TrueMoney Co., Ltd.
