Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS) has announced the launch of the “AIS Sport Academy,” a strategic initiative aimed at developing the Thai sports sector through international training and domestic academic support.
The program, titled “Power of People, Powering Thai Sports,” is a collaboration between AIS, Chulalongkorn University, the German Bundesliga, and the Football Association of Thailand (FA Thailand). The partnership focuses on providing elite football training in Germany for Thai youth, paired with academic scholarships to the Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School.
According to AIS executives, the academy’s framework is built on three pillars: creating opportunities, transferring world-class knowledge, and ensuring professional career growth. The initiative aims to address the traditional conflict between pursuing high-level athletics and maintaining a formal education.

“We are extending our model of human capital development to the sports sector,” said Kantima Lerlertyuttitham, Chief Corporate Officer of AIS. She noted that sports engagement involves over 10 million people in Thailand, and the academy seeks to use digital infrastructure to empower sports personnel from the grassroots level.
The academy has already begun implementing practical programs, including football and basketball clinics. Beyond athlete development, the project includes:
Coaching Excellence: Training programs for physical education instructors to standardize coaching methods.
Career Diversification: A talent discovery program for sports commentators to broaden professional pathways within the industry.
Saichon Submakudom, Chief Corporate Communication Officer at AIS, emphasized that the collaboration with Chulalongkorn University and the Bundesliga ensures a “stable destination” for participants. “Thai youth no longer have to compromise between athletic excellence and a strong educational foundation,” Saichon stated.
The launch marks a transition for the telecommunications provider from a broadcasting role to a direct developer of sports talent. Moving forward, the academy plans to expand its programs with partners to elevate the Thai sports industry toward international standards through holistic skill exchange and professional development.
