Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC) is investing THB 2.9 billion to develop a new ultra-luxury hotel on a prime Chao Phraya riverside plot currently known as River Garden. Planned to operate under the Plaza Athénée brand, the 18-storey development will feature 146 rooms across more than 20,000 square meters of gross floor area, with an official opening scheduled for 2028. The property will integrate luxury hospitality, wellness, dining, and lifestyle services.
The project forms part of the “AWC Riverside Journey,” an initiative connecting 11 AWC lifestyle properties along the river to key historic neighborhoods and landmarks in Bangkok, including Song Wat, Yaowaraj, Woeng Nakorn Kasem, the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, Wat Pho, the Flower Market, and Chinatown. Existing destinations in the network include Asiatique The Riverfront Destination, The Hotel Plaza Athénée Bangkok, and The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok, The Riverside.

The initiative incorporates a shared “Co-living” lobby concept across properties to connect spaces for guests along the river. AWC also plans to add future destinations to the route, including MONA Bangkok—a center for art, creativity, and culture—and a sustainable cross-river cable car project.
Wallapa Traisorat, Chief Executive Officer and President of AWC, stated that the AWC Riverside Journey was inspired by the Chao Phraya River’s role in connecting communities, history, and culture. She noted that linking the 11 lifestyle destinations aims to highlight Bangkok’s heritage, offer new riverfront experiences, and support Thailand as a global sustainable tourism destination.
