Bangkok Cable Co., Ltd. (BCC), Thailand’s premier electrical cable manufacturer, is spearheading the nation’s shift toward clean energy with the launch of the “Kinetic Floor” at NEXTOPIA, Siam Paragon. This interactive installation, developed in partnership with Siam Piwat and KMITL, transforms human movement into renewable energy, offering a glimpse into a sustainable urban future.
From Footsteps to Power: The Kinetic Floor Experience

Spanning 100 square meters across the 5F and 5M zones of Siam Paragon, the Kinetic Floor converts footsteps into electricity. Every step taken by visitors powers surrounding light effects and interactive sensors, making the concept of clean energy transition tangible and engaging for the public.
Pemika Nakornsri, Sustainable Development Director of BCC, emphasized that while the technology is in its prototype phase, the collaboration with King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) serves as a vital platform for public awareness. “Every step can generate clean energy. This is about building familiarity with the energy infrastructure that will power our future,” she stated.
“GreenLoop”: Setting a New Sustainable Benchmark
Complementing the kinetic floor is the GreenLoop cable, a BCC prototype designed under the “Go Green & Sustainable Innovation” concept. This innovation marks a major milestone for the industry:
- Lower Carbon Footprint: Reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 23% CO₂e during production compared to conventional cables.
- Circular Economy: Utilizes Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) materials for insulation, upcycling waste into high-performance energy infrastructure.
- Safety & Reliability: Ensuring that end-to-end sustainability does not compromise the high safety standards required for modern power grids.
Driving Thailand’s Clean Energy Infrastructure
BCC’s involvement in NEXTOPIA extends beyond the floor; all zones within the project are powered by BCC cables. With a legacy dating back to 1964, BCC continues to support national projects such as One Bangkok, the Pink Line MRT, and the Ubolratana Dam floating solar project.
“Everyone who visits NEXTOPIA becomes part of the experience,” Nakornsri added. “By turning human movement into energy, we are opening the door to new creative ideas for technology and circular economy principles.”
