Temus, a Singapore-based AI and digital transformation consultancy backed by Temasek, has announced a strategic investment in Thinking Machines Data Science, OpenAI’s first official Services Partner in the Asia-Pacific region.
Following the transaction, Thinking Machines will operate under the brand name “Thinking Machines Data Science, a Temus entity,” maintaining its current leadership. Founder and CEO Stephanie Sy will join the Temus leadership team as Managing Director of Applied AI.
The investment comes as Thai organizations seek to resolve digital onboarding, modernization, and AI deployment challenges during Thailand’s 2026 “Year of Investment,” where AI capability development has been designated as a key growth driver. Organizations in the country continue to encounter obstacles related to talent shortages, data readiness gaps, and the need to modernize existing systems prior to scaling AI.
Promphorn Chaichiwiwat, Thailand Country Manager at Thinking Machines Data Science, noted that Thai enterprises are transitioning from AI experimentation to execution, facing operational constraints and complex data environments. The Bangkok team has executed projects for entities such as Banpu, CPF, SET, and PTTGC, and joining the Temus group expands the firm’s delivery scope.
Thinking Machines has grown into a regional AI consulting firm, working with enterprises, government agencies, and civic organizations. To date, the company has trained over 10,000 professionals, co-developed hundreds of AI systems, and achieved advanced partner status with OpenAI as its first APAC Services Partner.
Stephanie Sy, Founder and CEO of Thinking Machines Data Science and incoming Managing Director of Applied AI at Temus, stated that the partnership allows the firm to address Southeast Asia’s demand for real business value from AI by scaling its regional capabilities.
Through its expanded operations, Thinking Machines plans to support Thai organizations by establishing core AI foundations, including data engineering, governance, AI implementation, and workforce enablement.
Temus operates with a workforce of approximately 500 in Singapore, offering full-stack AI transformation services across cloud engineering, application development, consulting, and design. Its client portfolio spans healthcare, defense, financial services, education, and government sectors aligned with Singapore’s Smart Nation and National AI Strategy.
Existing engagements and project teams for both firms will remain unchanged, with clients gaining access to expanded capabilities across the combined entity.
Sutowo Wong, Managing Director of Applied AI & Data at Temus, stated that combining Temus’ delivery capabilities with Thinking Machines’ decade of AI execution experience expands the technical team’s ability to support clients across the full AI and data spectrum in Southeast Asia.
Sng Ren Yeong, Chief Executive Officer of Temus, highlighted that Southeast Asian enterprises face challenges in maintaining AI operations under strict data constraints, regulatory requirements, and complex workflows. He added that the investment connects AI development directly with enterprise-scale operational capabilities, providing the resources and engineering depth needed to transition projects from pilots into production.
The combined entity aims to bridge AI implementation gaps across Southeast Asia by pairing strategic transformation consultancy with technical execution to build platforms, talent, and repeatable delivery frameworks for public and private sector organizations.
