True Corp named No.1 telecom company in the world for sustainability in DJSI 2023

True Corporation, has topped the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) 2023 with the world’s highest score in the telecom industry category for the sixth consecutive year, as announced by S&P Global on December 8, 2023. The ranking confirms True Corporation is conducting its business operations at the highest international sustainability standards to elevate its customers’ quality of life and transform Thailand into a digital economy. By strengthening digital skills, adopting new technologies, and reducing educational inequality, True Corporation is once again recognized for its global leadership in human rights, transparency and innovation.

Manat Manavutiveth, Chief Executive Officer, True Corporation Plc said, “True Corporation is determined to advance Thailand’s digital opportunities while promoting sustainability in three dimensions: environmental, social and governance. We not only focus on our own operations but also seek ways to promote systemic change for Thai society across our whole value chain.”

“To address global warming, True Corporation targets carbon neutrality in our own operations by 2030. To do so, we send zero electronic waste to landfill and are increasing our clean energy use through solar cells, while using AI technology to increase energy efficiency. We also go beyond our operations with internet of things and AI solutions that enable consumers and businesses to reduce their own emissions.”

In addition, the company has connected 1,294 schools in remote areas to broadband internet and ICT talents as part of CONNEXTED, a public and private alliance to improve educational standards with training and digital platforms. For those already in the workforce, True Digital Academy teaches critical digital skills in areas such as AI and analytics.

“True Corporation innovates to provide long-term value for customers and enterprises including building AI-powered solutions that can reduce energy consumption, speed up logistics and improve customer service. A powerful example is our online medical service, the MorDee platform, that enables easy and affordable access to healthcare without having to leave home,” said Mr. Manat.

True Corporation also promotes respect for human rights throughout its supply chain. The Human Rights Due Diligence process ensures key suppliers and partners review their own impact on their workers and the communities in which they operate. In addition, the company has issued the Business Partner Code of Conduct to meet international standards, increasing the signatories’ domestic and regional competitiveness.

“True Corporation’s actions to transform Thailand into a sustainable digital economy are in addition to our focus on anti-corruption, cyber security, and personal data privacy. In line with this, we recently issued an ethical AI charter to promote transparent, bias-free algorithms that respect consumer rights and data privacy,” said Mr. Manat.
