FutureTales Lab by MQDC, has published “Technoscape: an experimental and imaginative exploration of tech-driven and tech-enabled futures” as a conceptual guide outlining potential future scenarios in immersive experiences.
The three-volume research compilation offers intriguing scenarios depicting the potential positive and negative transformations brought about by immersive technologies.
Dr. Karndee Leopairote, Chief Foresight and Digital Assets Officer at FutureTales Lab said that Technoscape addresses probable tech-led futures for society.
“It is assumed that mass adoption of advanced technologies such as AR, XR, AI, etc., that impact immersive experiences will come by 2035, transforming our lives with no barriers to entry and participation,” she said.
“Immersive experiences could become a powerful force for changing society, but we will need to stay alert on how we’d use it. The research aims to shed some light into the possibilities of the cohabitation between human and technologies so we can make informed decisions on what should be done next to prevent the threats and embrace the opportunities.”
“Technoscape” features 3 reports. “Metaverse Building Blocks” (2022) explores 4 plausible metaverse scenarios. “What If the Metaverse Could Disprove Long-Held Theories” (2022) is a thought experiment on the virtual realm’s undiscovered potential.
The latest addition to the collection, “The Futures of Immersive Experiences” (2023) examines the possible futures of immersive experiences through a narrative format. The report explores 4 scenarios in first-person accounts, offering glimpses at the tools and systems that could be available as coping mechanisms/life mechanisms in tech-driven and -enabled scenarios.
