The Ministry of Education, in partnership with Microsoft Thailand and key state agencies, has announced the successful completion of the “AI for Teachers” project. The initiative has empowered over 160,000 educators to ethically integrate artificial intelligence into classrooms, impacting more than 3.3 million students nationwide.
The Ministry of Education, alongside Microsoft Thailand, the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), the Office of Vocational Education Commission (OVEC), the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST), and the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), recently celebrated the milestone of the “AI for Teachers” project. This initiative focuses on developing AI literacy and fostering the responsible use of AI tools to create innovative teaching materials and modernize learning in the digital era.
Running from October 2025 to March 2026, the project saw 160,507 educators complete the training, with 135,560 already receiving certificates. The initiative’s reach extended to 3,326,065 students across primary, secondary, and vocational levels, showcasing the commitment of the Thai education sector to adapt to global technological shifts.
Pitak Sotthayakhom, representing the Minister of Education, stated that the initiative aligns with national policy to ensure equitable learning opportunities. He emphasized that public-private partnerships are vital mechanisms for building a sustainable learning society and enhancing the country’s future competitiveness.
A satisfaction survey of 1,414 school administrators and teachers conducted by Microsoft revealed significant positive impacts:
- 99.7% reported that AI significantly helps reduce learning gaps, particularly for slow learners or students with language barriers, underscoring AI’s role in fostering educational equity.
- 98% of participating teachers (among adopters) reported a significant increase in confidence in using AI, which also helped reduce their workload by an average of 4 hours per week per teacher. This translates to approximately 153,000 reclaimed teacher-hours per year, equivalent to 95 full-time teachers being freed up to focus on higher-value pedagogical tasks.
- 88.6% of schools either have an AI policy in place or are in the process of developing one, further enhancing teachers’ confidence in AI utilization.
- 94.8% observed students use AI more responsibly and safely.
- 76.3% noted significant changes in student engagement and creativity.
Caroline McGrath, AI Skills Director, Asia, Microsoft, highlighted that AI fluency is now a foundational global workforce skill. She noted that Microsoft’s mission is to unlock new possibilities for learning while ensuring safe implementation through clear frameworks.

Chanikarn Pronanant, Deputy Managing Director at Microsoft Thailand, added that these skills are essential for driving Thailand toward becoming an “AI First Nation,” elevating classroom experiences to prepare human resources for sustainable digital transformation.
The event also featured the recognition of innovative teaching projects using AI:
- Winner: “Reflex Action: Our Body Thinks for Us” by Jorpor Science Phit Team, a biology teaching material simulating reflex nervous system mechanisms realistically and safely, making complex topics easy and engaging to understand.
- First Runner-up: “Water Cycle for Life, Royal Rainmaking Conquers Drought” by AI4Edu Team, a learning material on the water cycle and the Royal Rainmaking Project, seamlessly integrating science and technology with social learning.
- Second Runner-up: “Hero Mission: Lift, Press, Wash” by AI_for_All_1 Team, a charming and creative example for young children, presented as a cartoon with voice-over to teach proper restroom hygiene, demonstrating AI’s effectiveness in creating accessible media for all age groups.
Moving forward, the Ministry of Education and Microsoft will continue to provide AI tools and knowledge resources to educational institutions. The goal remains to enhance teaching effectiveness and ensure that Thai learners are fully prepared for the demands of the future workforce.
