True and Google partner to scale AI literacy for Thai youth

True and Google partner to scale AI literacy for Thai youth

Seeking to insulate the next generation against the volatile shifts of a burgeoning digital economy, True Corporation and Google unveiled a strategic partnership on Wednesday to disseminate artificial intelligence expertise across Thailand.

The initiative, announced March 25, 2026, introduces a dual-track educational framework: the “Gemini Academy for Students” and the “AI Literacy & Safety Module.”

These programs are designed to cultivate technical acumen while reinforcing digital defenses through a series of workshops and synchronized learning sessions tailored for a nationwide student demographic.

To lower the barrier to entry, officials confirmed that True and dtac subscribers will receive unrestricted internet access specifically to facilitate their engagement with the course material—a move intended to ensure that connectivity constraints do not impede the pedagogical process.

Navigating a Transformed Economy

The partnership arrives at a pivotal juncture as artificial intelligence increasingly dictates the trajectory of global markets. Sharad Mehrotra, Chief Consumer Business Officer at True Corporation Plc., characterized AI literacy not merely as a technical advantage but as a fundamental requirement for modern civic and professional life.

“In an era where AI is shaping the direction of economies and societies, True believes that AI literacy is an essential skill,” Mehrotra stated.

He noted that the collaboration, supported by the CP Group, seeks to establish an inclusive ecosystem that transcends traditional educational silos by merging business and technological infrastructure.

According to reports from the company, the curricula will encompass AI fundamentals and ethics, alongside the critical skills necessary to navigate an increasingly automated digital landscape.

The objective, Mehrotra emphasized, is for Thai youth to evolve from passive users of technology into “creators of value and innovation.”

Bridging the Proficiency Gap

For Google, the venture represents an extension of its regional commitment to equitable technological advancement. Rohan Tiwary, Director of Android Platform & Device Partnerships for Asia-Pacific at Google, framed the initiative as an essential bridge for the country’s “digital skills gap.”

“We are excited to see how the Gemini Academy for Students program and our safety module will empower learners to explore their curiosity in a safe way,” Tiwary said.

He added that the endeavor aligns with a broader corporate mandate to ensure that no segment of the Thai population is left behind in the transition to an AI-centric economy.

Logistics and Certification

The online component of the AI Literacy & Safety course commenced on March 25. While the program is targeted at students and university cohorts, officials noted that it remains accessible to the general public across all mobile networks.

Participants who meet the prescribed training requirements will be granted a joint certificate from True and Google, a credential intended to validate their proficiency in the safe and creative application of AI.

Details regarding the [Missing Information: Specific locations for offline activities] and the [Missing Information: Duration of the curriculum] were not immediately available, though registration for the “AI for All” offline sessions is currently being processed through the company’s digital portal.
