Facebook launches new ways to shop for the products you love on its family of apps

Facebook has announced a suite of new features to help Thai customers and sellers to enjoy personalized shopping experiences on its apps.

Coinciding with the rollout of Facebook Shops in Thailand, today’s announcement includes advertising solutions in Shops, including Ads with Product Tags, Custom Audiences and Collaborative Ads, reflecting Facebook’s continued investment in empowering anyone from a small business owner to a global brand to use Facebook’s apps to connect with customers.

One in three shoppers globally say they plan to spend less time in-store even after the pandemic is over, and almost three-quarters stating they get shopping ideas from Facebook, Instagram, or Messenger. With today’s announcement, Facebook is making it easier for people to discover and purchase.

Bringing Shops to More People

Today, Facebook has over 300 million monthly Shops visitors and over 1.2 million monthly active Shops. With Facebook Shops rolling out in Thailand, Thai businesses can now create seamless and powerful online stores for their customers on Facebook and Instagram. Creating a Facebook Shop is free and simple, with businesses able to choose the products they want to feature and allowing brands to tell their story and bring customers directly to their shop more cohesively. People can find Facebook Shops on a business’ Facebook Page or Instagram profile, or discover them through Stories or ads.

Shoppers also want to feel confident about their commerce experience and Facebook is providing customers more ways to make informed decisions before they buy. This will include new product ratings and reviews in Shops on Instagram, as well as community photos and videos – to be launched over the upcoming months.

Personalizing the Shopping Journey with Ads

Alongside the rollout of Facebook Shops, the company is today introducing a new set of ad solutions to allow businesses to offer relevant shopping experiences based on people’s shopping preferences.

These include finding the right customers through Ads with Product Tags, which enable businesses to directly send people to their Shop, and Shopping Custom Audiences that help businesses continue their conversation with people who previously interacted with their products. Together, this suite of personalized Shops Ad solutions can help businesses move customers from discovery to purchase.

Speaking about the new commerce innovations, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the introduction of Shops ads will provide “a personalized ads experience based on people’s individual shopping preferences. We’re launching the ability for a business to send shoppers to where you’re going to be most likely to make a purchase based on your shopping behavior.”

Incorporating New Technologies to Power the Future of Shopping

Facebook is also making it easier for people to shop in real time with its expansion of Facebook Live Shopping features, reflecting Thai consumers’ growing interest in immersive shopping experiences that invite participation and foster connections.

9 out of 10 Thais (92%) recently surveyed expect to increase their Live Shopping in the coming year, and Facebook Live Shopping now provides sellers, brands, and creators the ability to tag products from their Facebook Shop or catalog before going live. Those products will be shown at the bottom of the video so people can easily tap to learn more and purchase.
